Black? Conservative? Libertarian? Child of the Struggle? My Personal Manifesto
It’s been nearly two months since the last time I posted here. Real life has a way of getting in the way of writing plans. With that being said, I have some things I have to get off of my chest.
I grew up during “the struggle.” Civil Rights. Equal Opportunity. Equal rights. And then later, Black Power. Power to the People. Affirmative Action.
All of these things are significant in American history, and Lucky Me! I got to live in them.
Today’s mindset among “liberals” truly bothers me. The mindset of my own people bothers me. Why? Let’s just look at a few things here to get my perspective on mindsets and history.
TO ME the Civil Rights struggle was about equal rights under the Constitution. Although the southern states yelled “states’ rights!” during that time, they really had no leg to stand on. States’ rights don’t mean that you deny an entire class of tax-paying citizens their rights under the Constitution, and think that just because you’re a state that it’s okay. Not the way it works.
Once it became clear (in my dreamland) that the Constitutional rights of each and every citizen would be guaranteed – no more silly voting maneuvers, no more back of the bus, no more being denied common rights expected in a free republic – then as far as I was concerned, it was time to get down to the business of being Americans. Let’s put this ugliness behind us and take care of our country.
Silly me.
The KKK and others of their ilk just couldn’t see that each and every person, – regardless of the stuff they had (or who they were) that the KKK and their ilk didn’t like – were exactly the same in the eyes of the Constitution that they were. Sorry. If you don’t like that fact, then you change the Constitution to something else. Or move to that aryan paradise that you seem to think could exist somewhere else. But I know that you won’t do either. So you need to deal with the fact that we’re all Americans.
I largely supported Affirmative Action because in my mind, it was a case of giving everyone an equal chance. And, yes, it was self-serving, too. Affirmative Action forced companies (more or less) to look at every single person who applied for their jobs and to give benefit of the doubt to those that they wouldn’t ordinarily hire. I was good with that, but I knew it was temporary. And so it was, because, surprisingly, most Americans are not racist and don’t want to be made to feel that they’re victims of – okay I’ll say it – *reverse* racism. Racism by any name is still ugly. I called a couple of interviewers on their racist leanings during my career life and walked out of interviews. Been there, done that. Curious? Film at 11.
Let’s fast forward to today, the new millennium. And I’ll say it. My people have done stupid stuff. Siding with Democrats. Leaning on the largesse of the government. Whining. Making Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson “leaders.” Supporting Acorn. Electing Obama.
The Democrats are using my people like puppets. During the struggle, the ones who opposed ensuring that all people had equal rights under the Constitution were Democrats. The oldest members of the Senate – and the most racist – are/were Democrats. That would be Bob Byrd (allegedly “former” KKK member) and Strom Thurmond, who had his own delightful skeletons, but that’s another discussion.
The late governor of Alabama, who stood in the doorway of the University to block black students of entering was a democrat. His name was George Wallace. Lester Maddox, the unapologetically, viciously racist governor of Georgia, was a Democrat.
It just so happened that John Kennedy, a Democrat, happened to be in office during the key moments of the Civil Rights era. And ever since, my people have glued themselves to Democrats, without nary a bit of thought or analysis going into their decisions.
Foolish.
And the Democrats have raped that devotion at every turn.
Not that I think that the Republicans are any panacea. They have had their obviously ridiculous moments. However, I can easily aver that the Republicans are actually more race-neutral than the Dems. They don’t care that what color you are so long as you can go out, make money, start a business, pay your taxes, and be a proud American. Frankly, the only color they see is green, no matter what color the skin of the person who’s making it.
And no, I’m not a Republican. Ew.
I am an Independent Constitutionalist. I’m a patriotic American. Unlike Sharpton, Jackson, and Obama.
Sharpton is a caricature. At this time he is highly offended by Arizona’s law to enforce the federal law to check on illegals in this country. WTF Al. We worked long and hard AS AMERICAN CITIZENS to make sure that states correctly acknowledged that we had equal rights under the Constitution and you’re wringing your hands and gnashing your teeth because one state had enough of a brass pair to stand up against people who are not citizens and who are here ILLEGALLY!!! What the hell’s wrong with you? You don’t have to answer. I already know the answers to that one, but I don’t have the time to list them all. You and Jesse are Dr. King wannabes and you’ll never have that status, earn that type of admiration and respect, and you certainly don’t have his intellect. I’m pretty sure that there won’t ever be holiday called Al Sharpton Day. Works for me.
I don’t like Obama. Anyone who even glanced at this site would already pick up on that. But I didn’t like him long before he ran for President (or POTUS as the current acronym fad states) because I felt he was dangerous, ignorant, and articulate. And a hypocrite.
My people are swooning over the fact that he’s the POTUS. All I can say is that unless a man like Allen West (FL) runs for President, we can be pretty damned sure that it will be cold day in hell before another black (or in Obama’s case, black lite) President is elected. He was a Socialist ten years ago when nobody was paying attention to him, and he’s a Socialist now. No matter what words come out of his mouth, his actions showcase what he is. Yet so many people – of all colors and creeds – were swept up in the charisma of it all. Just like the German people were swept up by Hitler.
Oh please. Pull your panties out of your ass. I’m not saying that Obama is Hitler. But what I am saying is that a charismatic Socialist who’s an excellent orator can get people to do – or agree to – dangerous and stupid stuff. I like history. I learned it. Maybe you should, too.
It’s late and I’m going to bed. I’m going to finish this later. I have a lot to say to say about competence and showboating in the political arena. I’ve just begun to bitch.
