Too Stupid (Lazy, Uncaring, Whatever) to Learn English? A Rant

I recently received my Election Ballot for the upcoming primary (dump Harry Reid!), and once again found myself wondering why the hell is it half Spanish? WTF?

This is PC gone wild. Absolutely stupid and unnecessary.  If they can’t read English, then go the hell back where they came from.  It’s not that difficult to learn the language, especially if you’re motivated.  I am particularly peeved since my daughter-in-law is Japanese and on her way (legally) to American citizenship. She has worked very hard to get everything right, including becoming skilled in English. She really cares, but it’s more than that.

People from all over the world who want to become citizens jump through the legal hoops (which really are no more onerous than those in other countries) in order to do so.  Learning English is the most difficult for many of them because the Roman alphabet is so very different than those of their native countries.  Whether they’re from India, Vietnam, Japan, Israel, China, or any country with a different script, the people who come here make a real effort to learn the language – no matter how difficult or alien it is to them.

So what the hell’s the excuse of the Latin American countries? Too stupid?  They don’t even have to learn a new alphabet, but for some reason our government thinks that it’s important to have EVERYTHING in Spanish.  I think we should keep everything in English and let the chips fall where they may.

First of all, it’s not the educated who have problems with English.  As a friend of mine said after spending time in Mexico – the educated and middle-class learn English.  They’re the ones who come in through the front door and, like my daughter-in-law, jump through the appropriate hoops in order to gain citizenship.

The ones for whom the government thinks it’s so important to have everything written in Spanish – the Indians, Chinese, Japanese, Arabs, Israelis, Vietnamese, Thai, etc., are intelligent enough to learn the language – are uneducated, unmotivated, unpatriotic plebes with a third-world attitude and mentality.  They come to this country (largely illegally), suck at the public teat, drain our resources, and DON’T LEARN ENGLISH. Why are we kissing their asses?  They should be kissing ours.  If they’re here legally, then LEARN ENGLISH! If you cannot, then you should not be able to take part in the government of this nation.  I’ll just bet Mexico doesn’t have bilingual government documents.

Recently Pres. Calderon from Mexico came here and raked Arizona – and our immigration laws in general – over the coals.  He slammed our Second Amendment rights because his government can’t do its job, and the Democratic Congress and President gave him standing ovations. Yes, that’s plural.

We need to vote out every single son-of-a-bitch who gave that short little hypocrite a standing ovation.  They don’t need to be in office if they don’t have the balls to defend this nation from the petty opinions of third-rate obnoxious “leaders” like Calderon and his pal, Obama.  Why do I say hypocrite? Because the immigration laws in Mexico will toss you out in a moment’s notice if you don’t have your papers. He’s slamming us because he’s reaping the benefits of $12B in untaxed dollars flowing over into Mexico from the illegals every year.  God forbid we should grow a pair and put an end to it.

Stop the Spanish on official documents (I don’t care what private industry does – they know their bottom line), shore up the borders, fly the illegals to the bottom of Mexico (let’s face it – here in the SW, it’s mostly Mexicans), give ICE everything they need to keep them out, and fine and/or jail anybody who hires illegals, unless they make special arrangements to do so.

For once, let somebody in government look out for the American taxpayer.  That whole standing ovation farce shows that the current crowd (duly elected, I might add)  certainly are not.

Hell, most of the illegals probably can’t even read and write Spanish, much less English. We absorb all the illiterate from Mexico so they don’t have to deal with them. In my perfect world, there would be a 50 ft. fence along the Southern border, with armed border patrol agents walking it and snipers perched on top. If Calderon won’t do anything to keep them in, then we should be using every means necessary to keep them out.

You ought to hear some of the comments from legal immigrants who followed the law……..I couldn’t believe that there was so much fury about the illegals, but I was so wrong. They are livid.

I agree with your rant, but want to add one little of my own. You said your daughter in law is Japanese, Japan doesn’t allow ANY immigration and are some of the most racist people in the world, I’m not condemning her or the Japanese, and it’s not my country, but why aren’t liberals attacking that? There are even some businesses that have signs posted saying, No foreigners allowed, and others saying, No black people allowed.
My second rant is, like you my daughter in law is also Asian, but she’s Chinese.  Your daughter in law and mine would hate each other just based on ethic heritage, and to liberals that would be just fine.
But my daughter in law, as much as I love her and she’s good to my son, I wish she wasn’t from China. She has it seems thousands of relatives that live here. None of them speak English, they all own those horrible Chinese restaurants and don’t pay any labor taxes, I found out through her that none of them are paid at all, just tips, and even though they live in America and owe their livelihood to America, they hate Americans.
My daughter in law’s family, for the most part not all of them, look down their nose at her and she’s unwelcome because she lives in America and fell in love with  an American. That’s ok with me, we’ll take her and shower her with love, but how dare they, most of them here illegally, shun her. Go back to China.
My son has traveled all over and has so many stories of life in other countries, and none of them are acceptance. In three countries in  Asia he was stared at and no kidding, little children shied from him like he was the bogey man.
ALL immigration has to be looked at.
First. Secure our borders first and foremost, every country does and in some they even use our military.
Second, Yes,reform immigration, back to the immigrants that came here to be Americans.

What an interesting story!  We’re focused on Hispanics here in the SW because that’s our main problem with illegals.  I know that illegal Vietnamese and Chinese are problems in other parts of the country, particularly the more northern states.  Funny, I don’t know of any illegal Canadians, lol.

It’s interesting what you have to say about the Chinese.  Japanese are very big on honor, respect, and protocol.  Once again, I don’t know of any illegal Japanese (Japanese mafia notwithstanding).  Their culture wouldn’t allow them to do something so dishonorable.

If we cracked down and sent all the illegals that we find back to 1) where they come from or 2) wherever we feel like so long’s as it’s not here, I think we’d see a huge change.  I KNOW we would!

I don’t know Spanish, but I can figure it out. The words are so similar, that you can figure out what they mean.
For that reason, there’s no excuse why signs need to be in English and Spanish. They act like it would kill them to have to think a little.

I loved all your comments.  This is a subject I also feel very strongly about.  I can tell you right now that many of the U.S.’s financial problems could be solved if we cracked down hard on illegal immigrants (mainly Hispanics because I believe they’re the biggest problem).  It really bothers me that they think our country is good enough to live in, yet, not good enough to learn our language or abide by our laws.  Also, they live here, have babies, and OUR government supports them because their “anchor babies” are considered citizens.  I used to work in a pharmacy and can recite countless stories of Hispanics who can’t speak enough English to converse (we’d ask questions and they’d just give us the prescription), yet hand over their government issued Medicaid card to pay for medicine for their kids!  Plus, much of the money they earn (illegally) gets sent back to whatever country they came from!  So, they’re sucking money from our country, yet don’t contribute to our economy by paying taxes.  Tell me any other country you could live in without learning their language, PLUS receive benefits from their government, and send most of the money you earn back to your country of origin.  Arizona is on the right path as far as I’m concerned, but we need to think on a much larger scale if we are to save our country from even worse economic devastation!
