It’s been about 10 months since the last time I did a post, and had stopped only because I didn’t think I had enough to offer. Well, I was wrong. Not because I think I have so much to offer, but I really need a place to rant. I can’t always have a place to vent, but since this is my blog, this is as good a place as any.

So here we go.

Don’t fall over when I say this, but in the speech that Obama gave earlier this evening in the wake of the (yay!) snuffing of Osama Bin Laden was probably the best of his career as president. Being the skeptic that I cam with this president, I had felt that he’d either downplay it for the sake of the sensitivities of the Muslim world, or he’d take all the credit. Thankfully, he was somewhere in between.

There are several other things that I’d like to touch on: the “Birth Certificate” and the lingering questions about that; Donald Trump and how he outed Obama; Herman Cain; Lt. Col. Allen West, freshman Congressman; the Tea Party and how absolutely non-racist it is; the upcoming Presidential election; and much more stuff.

But right now I’m celebrating with a nice glass of red wine that Osama Bin Laden is dead. And he’s not only merely dead, he’s really most sincerely dead. (Excerpted from our fine Coroner friend in the Land of Oz).

So see you again soon. I’ll be ranting. And opining. A lot.

*DHR = Dump Harry Reid. Just in case you were wondering.

Fox News Radio’s Roger Hedgecock was here yesterday supporting a Tea Party rally for the Republican candidate for Senate, Sharron Angle. It was great, but I made a very, very interesting observation.

First, I got there late because Roger’s on-air hours are 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm Pacific time, and I don’t leave work till five. Fortunately, it’s a pretty straight shot of about 10-ish miles to get to Stoney’s North Forty where the event was held.

When I got there, Sharron had just about finished her interview with Roger and was speaking to the media – the local ABC, CBS, and Fox News stations were there, and I’m sure the NBC folks were as well. It was pretty jammed.

I don’t have to tell you that the Dump Harry Reid emotion is running at fever pitch. Just in case you were wondering why we want to dump someone who has such seniority, let me ‘splain.

Under “Prince Harry,” as he’s called by the conservative media, Nevada has become:

#1 in Foreclosures

#2 in Unemployment

#2 in dropout rates

Moved from our standing as “best place to live” to “run screamin’”

And more.

And of course while he was bribing other states to support his unconstitutional health fiasco (Cornhusker Kickback, etc.), he overlooked Nevada again. I mean, he was all for it. Why bribe himself? Not that we wanted it … it was just another demonstration of his total lack of concern for the people who elected him to office. We’re so ready for him to go.

Several points were brought out last night at the rally. One is that in spite of the fact that Harry’s spent A LOT of money attacking Sharron Angle – even before she won the nomination! – his numbers haven’t budged. We want him gone.

I did get the opportunity to speak briefly with Roger before he left. I pointed something out to him – the MSM was there, and I would bet that my face wouldn’t be seen on the air. In fact, there were about half-dozen or so black folks, several Asians, and a surprisingly large number of Hispanics. There was also a guy who was tattooed and pierced all over the place – yes, he was also a supporter!

The MSM wants you to believe that the only ones who attend Tea Parties or other conservative rallies are old angry white people. Well, there are a lot of old angry black people as well, particularly those of us who have had to work for a living and now see our American dream being nickled-and-dimed away from us. The Hispanics there were embarrassed about the fawning of the Media over the illegals, because they’d done everything right and are now bearing the brunt of 1) backlash from people who now see all Hispanics as illegal, and 2) the unwanted patronizing of the left. They don’t want the illegals here any more than the rest of us!

With that being said, you won’t see our faces on TV. We are too inconvenient, and prove that they’re lying about the Tea Party folks. I talked to several people, and didn’t find a racist in the group – of course, I was looking for the robe-wearing, Nazi-saluting, hate-spouting lynch mob that the MSM has declared makes up the Tea Party. Instead, I found my neighbors. So to speak. You know what I mean. Just folk.

The November is Coming website is new (to me), and if legislators ignore it, they do so at their own career peril. Which is great. Let’s hope they ignore it. At this time it doesn’t make much difference to me; anyone who gave a standing O to Calderon and who voted for the health care bill is toast to me. ESPECIALLY the standing ovation part – what a slap to the American people!

Now – here’s my request to you if you’re not living in Nevada. Please, please, please take a look at any of the Dump Harry Reid sites out there! Whether it’s Sharron Angle’s site, or any of the others (a quick Google will bring up lots!), please write to them, donate if you can, and encourage them. People here in Nevada need to realize that not only is Harry ruining everything for Nevada, but he’s a part of the destruction of the United States as we know it. I look at him as a traitor – he’s supposed to uphold the Constitution, not destroy it.

By the way, his own party is frustrated with him. Read this article to see who finished second to Harry.

I promise to try to write more often, especially as we spin into the election season. I had to have my old dog put down last week, and I’ve been in the dumps. But I’m better now, fired up, and ready to rant!

Stay tuned…

I really appreciate the feedback from everyone regarding my post on how important it is to learn the English language, and how we’re cowtowing to the special interests in having EVERYTHING “bilingual.” What a travesty!

I want to emphasize one thing – the reason we have so many things that are bilingual is because the peasants won’t learn the language. The wealthy (or even “just” employed), the educated, the motivated, the sincere, all want to learn English, or have already done so in preparation to becoming a US citizen. My daughter-in-law will be taking her oath (vow? commitment) to being a citizen shortly, and is very excited about the idea. She will have dual citizenship because she’s very close to her family in Japan.

Too bad the vermin sneaking over the border from Mexico don’t get it.

Calderon doesn’t want us to enforce our laws because his country is getting $26 Billion in under-the-table money from the illegals (working, robbing, dealing) here in the US. He is completely UNMOTIVATED to see that change. He has no interest in our country, our well-being, our Constitution. It’s all about what he can get for his country.

Screw the US. He made that perfectly clear in his speech.

So that’s just a quick follow-up. I didn’t want to see this get lost in the drama happening in the Gulf. Another Obama government screwup.

But that’s another rant.

I recently received my Election Ballot for the upcoming primary (dump Harry Reid!), and once again found myself wondering why the hell is it half Spanish? WTF?

This is PC gone wild. Absolutely stupid and unnecessary. If they can’t read English, then go the hell back where they came from. It’s not that difficult to learn the language, especially if you’re motivated. I am particularly peeved since my daughter-in-law is Japanese and on her way (legally) to American citizenship. She has worked very hard to get everything right, including becoming skilled in English. She really cares, but it’s more than that.

People from all over the world who want to become citizens jump through the legal hoops (which really are no more onerous than those in other countries) in order to do so. Learning English is the most difficult for many of them because the Roman alphabet is so very different than those of their native countries. Whether they’re from India, Vietnam, Japan, Israel, China, or any country with a different script, the people who come here make a real effort to learn the language – no matter how difficult or alien it is to them.

So what the hell’s the excuse of the Latin American countries? Too stupid? They don’t even have to learn a new alphabet, but for some reason our government thinks that it’s important to have EVERYTHING in Spanish. I think we should keep everything in English and let the chips fall where they may.

First of all, it’s not the educated who have problems with English. As a friend of mine said after spending time in Mexico – the educated and middle-class learn English. They’re the ones who come in through the front door and, like my daughter-in-law, jump through the appropriate hoops in order to gain citizenship.

The ones for whom the government thinks it’s so important to have everything written in Spanish – the Indians, Chinese, Japanese, Arabs, Israelis, Vietnamese, Thai, etc., are intelligent enough to learn the language – are uneducated, unmotivated, unpatriotic plebes with a third-world attitude and mentality. They come to this country (largely illegally), suck at the public teat, drain our resources, and DON’T LEARN ENGLISH. Why are we kissing their asses? They should be kissing ours. If they’re here legally, then LEARN ENGLISH! If you cannot, then you should not be able to take part in the government of this nation. I’ll just bet Mexico doesn’t have bilingual government documents.

Recently Pres. Calderon from Mexico came here and raked Arizona – and our immigration laws in general – over the coals. He slammed our Second Amendment rights because his government can’t do its job, and the Democratic Congress and President gave him standing ovations. Yes, that’s plural.

We need to vote out every single son-of-a-bitch who gave that short little hypocrite a standing ovation. They don’t need to be in office if they don’t have the balls to defend this nation from the petty opinions of third-rate obnoxious “leaders” like Calderon and his pal, Obama. Why do I say hypocrite? Because the immigration laws in Mexico will toss you out in a moment’s notice if you don’t have your papers. He’s slamming us because he’s reaping the benefits of $12B in untaxed dollars flowing over into Mexico from the illegals every year. God forbid we should grow a pair and put an end to it.

Stop the Spanish on official documents (I don’t care what private industry does – they know their bottom line), shore up the borders, fly the illegals to the bottom of Mexico (let’s face it – here in the SW, it’s mostly Mexicans), give ICE everything they need to keep them out, and fine and/or jail anybody who hires illegals, unless they make special arrangements to do so.

For once, let somebody in government look out for the American taxpayer. That whole standing ovation farce shows that the current crowd (duly elected, I might add) certainly are not.

I had several choices this summer of where I wanted to spend my vacation dollars. Part of the money will be going to plane fare to visit my youngest son and his beautiful wife when they welcome the birth of their first child, a girl. Any minute now!

So would I take my family to Utah again? Maybe we’d consider wine country. How about taking a really long car trip to Colorado? Hmm. So many choices!

My primary choice, however, was to take my mother, my aunt, and my cousin to someplace cool – and I thought that considering the current state of the economy, San Diego might just offer some slammin’ deals. I’ve always loved San Diego, but let’s face it. It’s kind of pricey there. Although I hadn’t made reservations just yet, I figured that late July - just before my scheduled knee surgery – would be the ideal time to get out of the oppressive Las Vegas heat and spend some time in the beautiful summertime climate of the San Diego area. The hotels are great, and I so miss the fun restaurants there. We would also have the opportunity to see my daughter and kids who live in Riverside. The plan was perfect.

Then along comes the San Diego City Council and decides that they are shocked – shocked! – at Arizona’s efforts to put a stop to the illegal bleeding wound at their borders. Horrors of horrors, apparently. So on May 11, they followed Los Angeles’ suit and put economic sanctions on Arizona. And like Los Angeles, they decided that the desire to have water and power from Arizona in times of need was exempted from the “boycott” of the Grand Canyon State.

Both city councils, by not going all the way with their boycotts, demonstrated what ideological cowards they really are. Go long or go home, I say.

So what’s the result of this?

We’ve never seen the Grand Canyon. We will this year and will gladly spend our money in Arizona to boot. We’ll let them know that we support their efforts. However, I do wish they had a beach.

And yes, if the Las Vegas City Council or the Clark County Commission decides to follow the example of L.A. and San Diego, you can be sure that your happy bartender will be there to make some decidedly pointed comments. We have better things to do than to kiss the collective asses of the illegal alien supporters.

And there’s more.

Because their actions so enraged me, I finally had to let loose on them with the following diatribe, posted through a form on the City Council portion of the City of San Diego website. And here it is:

Because of your incredibly offensive decision to boycott a state for looking out after its own sovereign borders from those who enter this country illegally, I’ve decided against a long-planned vacation with my family to San Diego. My mother is 89, my aunt is 70, and along with the kids and grandkids (oh yeah … and great-grandkids) were looking forward to spending great family time in San Diego this summer for a short vacation. A great respite from the famous Las Vegas heat. We’re going to see the Grand Canyon instead. I’m spending my hard-earned money in Arizona, not San Diego. You say the motion was symbolic. Well consider my spending my money in Arizona “symbolic.”

If you’re interested in doing the same, the date was May 11, and the item was RS400.

I feel better! Hope to see y’all in Arizona!

Once we stop sucking at the public teat and running after every “action group” (i.e., Acorn) that comes along, learning how to speak proper English, and learning the history of this country (another future rant), we’ll still be stuck with the same victim mentality that the likes of Sharpton and Jackson want us to wallow in for eternity.

It took me forever to get out of the mindset of “a safe job.” Let me explain.

My mother never finished school, but she went to work to help pay for the tuition of the next oldest, a male, who went to college. This was in the 30s and 40s, so we’re talking about a lifetime ago. She was also able to get work for the federal government during WWII, and worked until the end of the war when she was laid off.

Like many black people during that time, she had a hard time initially finding a job; but eventually she did, with Sears & Roebuck (remember that?) where she worked until she retired in the early 80s. As an aside, she’s outlived everyone who was at her retirement party. And that gives you a general idea of her mindset of getting a safe job that will carry you through retirement.

At no time did she say anything about starting a business. I never heard the word “entrepreneur” when I was growing up. So for a huge portion of my life, my whole focus – be it my education, work life, raising kids, etc. – was all about making sure that I had a safe job, my husband(s) had a safe job, and that my kids were raised to focus on getting a safe job. And if you get a job with the government. Well. That was icing. Just look at the benefits.

I have turned 180º since then, and realize that the only true way to freedom is by being in charge of your own destiny. I say this even though I’ve had a “safe” government job for many years, at which I work very hard. Contrary to popular opinion, those of who are behind-the-scenes, rank-and-file government employees labor hard to ensure that our taxpaying citizens get their money’s worth. I’m a trainer, and I work very hard to make sure that those who are my students understand everything that I’m trying to convey. That makes them better and more efficient at their jobs, and the taxpayers win. And like I often tell people, a considerable amount of our money goes back into taxes. Income tax, sales tax, property tax, fuel tax, and whatever other taxes we have to pay just like everyone else. When I hear or see of a government employee being a slacker, it irritates me. Another stereotype to fight.

With that being said, it seems that we as a people can’t quite grasp the whole idea of entrepreneurship. Being an entrepreneur during the worse days of segregation was a given. If you couldn’t go into a restaurant to eat, you opened your own restaurant. If it was illegal for you to hire a white person to do a particular job, then you did it yourself or opened a business doing it. That was the case all across the board, whether it was being a barber, a doctor, a beautician, a dentist, a laborer, a gardener, or whatever. You opened a business to serve a need and to make money.

And then along came the Democrats with their liberal policies and bleeding-heart white guilt. That white guilt – in the form of welfare programs, policies, and mandates – have destroyed the once-strong black family in the United States. Our illegitimate childbirth rate is shameful. How many young black men have had fathers? How many would even know how to do anything about being a father other than the conception part? How many generations have grown up on welfare rolls, never having had a good job, much less considered a legitimate business?

And can someone please explain to me how come it’s considered “white” to be smart in school or that the use of proper English is considered selling out? Our people are woefully ignorant and self-destructive.

Let me tell you a true story which highlights this point.

An acquaintance of mine was a school teacher. He is a white guy, laid back, but finally left teaching because it became too stupid to try to make a difference.

One day in the month of February he played music by Lena Horne, Cab Calloway, and Duke Ellington. And was excoriated by his student for playing that “stupid white music.” And they were barely shamed when they found out that these people were pioneers in black music and were highly respected by whites, a rarity at the time. If it wasn’t rap with a lot of cursing, extolling the drug and gang cultures, or putting down women, apparently it wasn’t black music.

I said all of that to say this:

It’s time to start pulling away from the government for our sustenance. It’s time to start looking into our community (whichever community – we don’t all live in black communities) for ideas on becoming the employers, educators, craftsmen, and professionals of the future. If we keep that mentality, of course, then they get to remain “leaders.”

Slavery ended 160 years ago. It’s time for our mental slavery to end as well.

Coming soon: Part three. The illegals are killing the black community, and why Sharpton’s too stupid to realize that.

It’s been nearly two months since the last time I posted here. Real life has a way of getting in the way of writing plans. With that being said, I have some things I have to get off of my chest.

I grew up during “the struggle.” Civil Rights. Equal Opportunity. Equal rights. And then later, Black Power. Power to the People. Affirmative Action.

All of these things are significant in American history, and Lucky Me! I got to live in them.

Today’s mindset among “liberals” truly bothers me. The mindset of my own people bothers me. Why? Let’s just look at a few things here to get my perspective on mindsets and history.

TO ME the Civil Rights struggle was about equal rights under the Constitution. Although the southern states yelled “states’ rights!” during that time, they really had no leg to stand on. States’ rights don’t mean that you deny an entire class of tax-paying citizens their rights under the Constitution, and think that just because you’re a state that it’s okay. Not the way it works.

Once it became clear (in my dreamland) that the Constitutional rights of each and every citizen would be guaranteed – no more silly voting maneuvers, no more back of the bus, no more being denied common rights expected in a free republic – then as far as I was concerned, it was time to get down to the business of being Americans. Let’s put this ugliness behind us and take care of our country.

Silly me.

The KKK and others of their ilk just couldn’t see that each and every person, – regardless of the stuff they had (or who they were) that the KKK and their ilk didn’t like – were exactly the same in the eyes of the Constitution that they were. Sorry. If you don’t like that fact, then you change the Constitution to something else. Or move to that aryan paradise that you seem to think could exist somewhere else. But I know that you won’t do either. So you need to deal with the fact that we’re all Americans.

I largely supported Affirmative Action because in my mind, it was a case of giving everyone an equal chance. And, yes, it was self-serving, too. Affirmative Action forced companies (more or less) to look at every single person who applied for their jobs and to give benefit of the doubt to those that they wouldn’t ordinarily hire. I was good with that, but I knew it was temporary. And so it was, because, surprisingly, most Americans are not racist and don’t want to be made to feel that they’re victims of – okay I’ll say it – *reverse* racism. Racism by any name is still ugly. I called a couple of interviewers on their racist leanings during my career life and walked out of interviews. Been there, done that. Curious? Film at 11.

Let’s fast forward to today, the new millennium. And I’ll say it. My people have done stupid stuff. Siding with Democrats. Leaning on the largesse of the government. Whining. Making Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson “leaders.” Supporting Acorn. Electing Obama.

The Democrats are using my people like puppets. During the struggle, the ones who opposed ensuring that all people had equal rights under the Constitution were Democrats. The oldest members of the Senate – and the most racist – are/were Democrats. That would be Bob Byrd (allegedly “former” KKK member) and Strom Thurmond, who had his own delightful skeletons, but that’s another discussion.

The late governor of Alabama, who stood in the doorway of the University to block black students of entering was a democrat. His name was George Wallace. Lester Maddox, the unapologetically, viciously racist governor of Georgia, was a Democrat.

It just so happened that John Kennedy, a Democrat, happened to be in office during the key moments of the Civil Rights era. And ever since, my people have glued themselves to Democrats, without nary a bit of thought or analysis going into their decisions.

Foolish.

And the Democrats have raped that devotion at every turn.

Not that I think that the Republicans are any panacea. They have had their obviously ridiculous moments. However, I can easily aver that the Republicans are actually more race-neutral than the Dems. They don’t care that what color you are so long as you can go out, make money, start a business, pay your taxes, and be a proud American. Frankly, the only color they see is green, no matter what color the skin of the person who’s making it.

And no, I’m not a Republican. Ew.

I am an Independent Constitutionalist. I’m a patriotic American. Unlike Sharpton, Jackson, and Obama.

Sharpton is a caricature. At this time he is highly offended by Arizona’s law to enforce the federal law to check on illegals in this country. WTF Al. We worked long and hard AS AMERICAN CITIZENS to make sure that states correctly acknowledged that we had equal rights under the Constitution and you’re wringing your hands and gnashing your teeth because one state had enough of a brass pair to stand up against people who are not citizens and who are here ILLEGALLY!!! What the hell’s wrong with you? You don’t have to answer. I already know the answers to that one, but I don’t have the time to list them all. You and Jesse are Dr. King wannabes and you’ll never have that status, earn that type of admiration and respect, and you certainly don’t have his intellect. I’m pretty sure that there won’t ever be holiday called Al Sharpton Day. Works for me.

I don’t like Obama. Anyone who even glanced at this site would already pick up on that. But I didn’t like him long before he ran for President (or POTUS as the current acronym fad states) because I felt he was dangerous, ignorant, and articulate. And a hypocrite.

My people are swooning over the fact that he’s the POTUS. All I can say is that unless a man like Allen West (FL) runs for President, we can be pretty damned sure that it will be cold day in hell before another black (or in Obama’s case, black lite) President is elected. He was a Socialist ten years ago when nobody was paying attention to him, and he’s a Socialist now. No matter what words come out of his mouth, his actions showcase what he is. Yet so many people – of all colors and creeds – were swept up in the charisma of it all. Just like the German people were swept up by Hitler.

Oh please. Pull your panties out of your ass. I’m not saying that Obama is Hitler. But what I am saying is that a charismatic Socialist who’s an excellent orator can get people to do – or agree to – dangerous and stupid stuff. I like history. I learned it. Maybe you should, too.

It’s late and I’m going to bed. I’m going to finish this later. I have a lot to say to say about competence and showboating in the political arena. I’ve just begun to bitch.

Sometimes being the only conservative in a morass of liberals can be trying, to say the least. I feel that many have come to expect the government to take care of them in every way (“Europe does it!”) and have no concept of self-determination or personal responsibility. And they’re *sincere* about it!

I had an adventure last night with some very liberal friends (whom I love very much), who are, in my opinion, brain-damaged. And I’ll leave it at that.

Meanwhile, I still have plenty to say about everything, but I must take care of “real life” right now and take a rest from the day job which is kicking my (substantial) butt.

Later!

I love the way the warmists look down their collective noses to those of us of the hoi polloi and imperiously tell us that we don’t know the difference between “climate” and “weather.”

Let’s see. When the winters seemed to be unseasonably warm over several years, did not the warmists point out those particular weather phenomena as proof of “global warming”? Just look at what the weather is doing! We’re going to be doing the backstroke in the desert if this continues! Everything is melting! The sky is falling! Go Green!

Now that climate has changed … oops – maybe it’s weather … they are now blaming the blizzards, the record-breaking cold, unseasonably cold weather (Vegas had a prediction of snow last night – thankfully it didn’t happen – and we’re running about 10-15 degrees colder than normal) etc., ad nauseam to global warming. Washington has been shut down for nearly a week due to “global warming.” Please.

“Everyone” supports common-sense pollution controls. Nobody wants to breathe dirty air, drink polluted water, eat tainted food. With that being said, nobody wants a 7th century lifestyle, either.

But let’s look at the reality. The ethics of the climate scientists have been not just questioned, but completely exploded. The reliance on questionable data, the methods in which they were collected, and the focused efforts to deny the publication of papers/articles that refute global warming have been exposed. The famous East Anglia emails even indicate that the scientists were going out of their way to shanghai any editor who even considered publishing opposing viewpoints. And why won’t the guru of all things warming, Al Gore, debate anyone? If it’s true and right, the science has been decided, and he has the truth on his side, debating the opposition should be welcomed and embraced. Instead, he flat-out refuses. Why is that?

The last decade has seen an overall cooling. Maybe the climate is changing because that’s what climate does. When the earth changed to (and then from) the Ice Age, I’m guessing that there weren’t a lot of factories around to affect that process.

Telling the warmists that, however, invites name-calling and hysterical shrieking. Geez people! You are worst than the most fanatic religionist!

Unless, of course, this *is* your religion. Welcome to mother nature.
